Q    It is difficult to get to the venue.  Are you sure the government will construct the road?
   
A Construction of the road has begun shortly after we launch the project.  The road contractor is extremely efficient. Clearing and grading work commenced immediately and you can now drive to site from Menggatal on a nicely graded road.  The road should be sealed before the Prayer Retreat Centre is completed.
   
   
Q    Have you sorted out the land matters?
   
A We have secured the sublease of the land for 99 years effective from 1 August 1992.  We are pursuing the subdivision and conversion of the land so that it will be registered in the name of the Bishop of Sabah.
   
   
Q    Do we have sufficient funds to complete the project?
   
A A total of RM900,00 is allocated for the project from our internal funds.  An interest free loan of RM1 million is approved by the standing committee from the unreleased Government Grants.  To date, a total of over RM600,000 in cash has been raised by the churches.  We need to raise another RM2.2 million to complete the project and then another RM1 million to repay the loan.  We are also receiving giving in kind which when added up can be substantial.
   
   
Q    How do we justify spending so much for a prayer retreat centre that will only be used occasionally?
   
A There is no facility in Sabah for prayer and retreat of this size.  Due to the proximity and location, it will be ideal for conferences, retreats and seminars.  The configuration of the facility will also make it suitable for smaller cell retreats and Alpha Holy Spirit Weekends.  It will be opened to all church groups and we envisage that it will be used regularly.
   
   
Q    How are we going to finance the running cost?
   
A The centre is to encourage regular and sustained prayer for Kota Kinabalu and the nation.  Charges will be worked out so that it will cover running cost.  We will work on the premise that it will become self-financing.
