Canon Lawrence Lawin
was sent by the Diocese of Borneo and arrived at North Borneo, Sabah
to teach at Holy Cross Mission School, Kuala Sapi on February 1959.
He was ordained as Deacon in Sabah & served as Deacon-in-Charge of
St John Mission District, Penangah on November 1968. He was then
ordained as Priest and served as Priest-in-Charge of Epiphany
Mission District, Tongud as well as St John Mission District,
Penangah on March 1970. He was transferred to Holy Cross Mission
District, Kuala Sapi including overseeing Epiphany Mission District,
Tongud, St John Mission District, Penangah as well as St Luke
Mission District, Telupid, on August 1974. He was the only Anglican
Priest looking after the whole of Labuk and Kinabatangan at that
time. On August 1982, He started Mission Work at Sugut. Five years
later, he was collated as Canon at Cathedral of All Saints, Kota
Kinabalu. On March 1996, He was transferred to St Thomas Mission
District, Sandakan until official retirement from the Diocese of
Sabah on 5th April 2004. |

Canon Sylvia Jeanes |

The Diocese would
like to thank Sylvia for her faithful service and dedication in
ministry in our Diocese since Feb, 1967. She have served as
missionary for about 40 years. Sylvia left Australia by ship on 5
Jan, 1967 and arrived in Jesselton on 18 Jan. She first served as a
primary school teacher, and principal until 1980 in the Epiphany
School Tongud, then from 1974 in charge of the Epiphany Mission and
all its 20 or so churches until 1980. From 1981-1986, the Bible
Training Centre in Tongud, itinerant lay-training, and evangelists
training, all of which is centered in Telupid. In 1987, she set up
the Diocesan Christian Education Centre, and from 1988 until now
with STS.
