Chinese & English Lay Readers' Training

30 April - 2 May, Kota Kinabalu

About 160 lay readers, would-be lay readers, and non-stipendiary priests came for a two-day training at All Saints' Cathedral.  Called by the Bishop, and organized by the Training Committee, the experience is meant to further equip these leaders to serve more effectively. The Bishop in his messages reminded the participants the responsibilities that came with their calling.  The lay readers and the non-stipendiary priests form the 'inner circle', working together with the priests in the local parishes.  Other sessions included teachings on the Anglicanism - its rich heritage, worship life and ways of relating to one another.  Practical workshops were run to help the lay readers lead liturgical worship, conduct Home Communion, administer the Holy Communion, and conduct Funeral Services.

Many expressed how helpful the experiences have been to them, and looked forward to more of such equipping.  Glory to God alone!
