BSI Anglican Vision
School - Soft Launching of Primary & Secondary School |
|
Tawau - 30
April |
 |
The soft launching
for the 'Vision Primary School' and 'Vision Secondary
School' marked another milestone in the history of the
Anglican Diocese of Sabah.
Bishop Albert Vun officiated the launching at the school
premises witnessed by many community leaders, business
people and members of the public as well as St Patrick's
Church members.
This is the first church-owned private school following the
national curriculum in our Diocese. This project is a
miracle as we witnessed how God had provided for the
building and subsequently the granting of the permit from
the Ministry of Education.
The school has now begun its enrollment and classes will
commence on 15 June when the second semester begins.

Chaplaincy Training |
|
Kota
Kinabalu - 27-29 April |
|
50 came for the first
'Chaplaincy Training' held at Kota Kinabalu. Jointly organised by
the Diocesan Vocation & Selection Committee and the Diocesan
Training Committee, the course was to equip school chaplains, their
assistants and youth workers to work among students primarily in our
mission schools. The trainer was Canon Daniel Tong, Chairman of the
Education Board of the Singapore Diocese. With him was Jeremy, one
of the 'mentors' reaching out to junior college students at St
Andrew's Junior College, Singapore. Canon Daniel's message that 'the
battle is difficult, but the war is not over yet' gave everyone the
much needed encouragement to labour continually in our schools. The
present situation at our mission schools calls for a creative and
personal approach in ministry. Our Diocese manages 2 playschools, 7
kindergartens, 8 primary schools, 4 secondary schools and 2
academies. |

by the issue of 'diocesan assessment' which the diocesan treasurer
took much effort to explain. The morning ended with a lunch

Diocesan Vocation
Retreat For Young Adult |
|
Kota
Kinabalu - 1-3 May |
 |
This is the first
time the Diocesan Vocation Committee organised a Vocation
Retreat for Working Adults. 37 men and women attended this
Retreat. The Retreat provided an opportunity for the
participants to respond seriously to God’s call in their
lives. We touched on topics such as “Vocation and the
Call of God”, “Vocation and Characters in the Bible”,
“Calling, Family and Finance”, “Calling and Spiritual
Formation” and “Calling and Equipping”. The
Retreat also included sharing of testimonies on God’s call
for participants in their small group. It was concluded with
a challenge by Bishop Albert Vun. All participants found the
Retreat very encouraging. |

Ordination Service |
|
Kota
Kinabalu - 2 May |
 |
We praise God for
the ordination of six brothers into priesthood at All
Saints’ Cathedral, Kota Kinabalu. The Bishop in his message
challenged all churches to continue to raise workers not
only for our own Diocese but also for the greater harvest
field. Our Diocese plans to send workers to our neighboring
countries like Indonesia, Thailand and Philippines.
Drawing from Psalm
23:5 “You prepare a table before me in the presence of my
enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cups overflows”
the Bishop exhorts all churches to continue to trust the
Lord for an overflow of abundance including workers for the
mission field. |
