PROSEAMS Meeting at
Kathmandu |

2 PYNET members
were present in the meeting together with Rev Norman Beale,
the Dean of Nepal and Rev Wayne M McNamara
from the Reformed Episcopal Church from the USA. The
PROSEAMS Committee was also privileged to be
part of the 10th Anniversary Celebration of the Anglican
Church in Nepal which included a confirmation service.
Nepal has a population of 27 million in a long strip
of land 850km long and 150km wide and 3% are Christians. The
Anglican Church of Nepal started on 6 June 1999. It has 40
congregations with a total of 6,500 members. PROSEAMS gave a
gift of USD10,000 to aid the Social Services of the Anglican
work. |

Good Shepherd 25th
Anniversary Celebration |

Sandakan -

The
silver jubilee celebration of the Church of the Good
Shepherd brought together good friends, good fellowship,
good food and good memories. The Thanksgiving Dinner was
attended by 500 guests. Among the special guests were
Bishop Datuk Albert Vun and Datin Mary, Bishop Datuk Yong
Ping Chung (1st priest-in-charge) and Datin Julia, Rev Yapp
Foh Yu (chairman of COGS building committee) and Mrs
Yapp and a team from St Philip's, Segama (mission partner).
A few clergy who could not be present conveyed their
messages through 'video-clips'. The Thanksgiving Service was
held the following morning. Bishop Datuk Albert
preached on Psalm 23 - reflecting on 'The Lord' who, as a
good shepherd, provided all the needs of the sheep. It was a
good reflection of the past quarters of a century. The
church looks forward to more challenging days ahead. |

Mission To Thailand -
Alpha Course |

The first Alpha for
ESOL in Rangsit was started on
5 June. 8 new comers, making a total 13 persons including
the team attended the first session of the course. Ps Alice
and Ps Faustina together with the team had a great time.
They encouraged the group to share during the discussion.
God provided good weather, good team work and
lost souls who needed the Gospel. |

Diocesan Clergy
Wives' Retreat |

Kinabalu - 1-4 June |

35 clergy and
pastors' wives from around Sabah came for the Diocesan
Clergy Wives Retreat. Everyone had a wonderful time of
learning and sharing together in devotions, "spiritual spa"
and practical workshops. We came away refreshed
and recharged for ministry in our own families and parishes. |

Diocesan BM Youth
Camp |

Mission District, Penangah - 1-4 June |

‘You Are
Powerful Generation’ is the theme for the
Diocesan BM Youth Camp. 1,141 full time participants
were ministered and blessed by the messages of Ps Alfred
Tais, Archdeacon Melter Tais and Rev Canon Musa Ambai. In
the camp, 94 received Jesus Christ as their personal
Saviour, 102 re-dedicated their lives, 109 responded to the
challenge of full-time calling. 37 were ministered to and
48 will be followed up with a nurture course. 1,483
attended the night sessions. The respondents will be
channeled to the In-charge of local churches to follow up.

Diocesan Chinese
Youth Camp |

Sandakan - 8-11

The
Diocesan Chinese Youth Camp held in Sandakan was attended by
570 youth. The theme is “Rooted”. Its
purpose is to challenge the participants to be rooted in
the word of God and in faith. They were challenged to
live out their faith and to be rooted in the truth of God
by the preaching of Rev Lim Heng Loong and Rev Paul
Lau. The participants also learned to live and work together
through the teaching and the recreation.
On the last night, more than 100 responded to accept Jesus
Christ through the challenge by a team from ‘Soulwork’ Kuala
Lumpur. At the closing, 270 responded
to the challenge given by Archdeacon Moses Chin to dedicate
their lives to serve the Lord. |
