Historical Background |
|
Miss Chee started the
Annual School concert at the end of each year after school exam and a fun
fair on St. Gabriel’s Day, 24th March. So with the entrance fees
and the proceeds from the above functions put by, the idea of starting a
kindergarten for St. Gabriel’s School began. So, St. Gabriel’s Kindergarten
was established on 29th October 1969. No government grant was
asked for but the expenses were met by holding the biggest fun fair ever
held. The kindergarten was consecrated by Bishop Koh when it was furnished
and the registrations of the pupils started when it opened on 4th January
1970 were about 60 children. Miss Chee was the principal. The Kindergarten
was extended in 1988 with an additional floor and was jointly officiated by
Datuk Lau Pui Kiong and our Bishop Luke Choa Heng Tze on 1st
April 1989. In conjunction with the official opening of our extended
building, we also had a concert and other activities to make the day more
memorable and enjoyable. The school now has about hundred over students |
